The implementation of evidence-based interventions requires strong and enduring relationships among researchers, program developers, communities, and other stakeholders. However, the challenge of scaling up and disseminating evidence-based programs from shelves to community settings is often associated with tensions and differing priorities that exist between researchers, program developers, community advocates, and other stakeholders. Putting prevention science to work in communities to improve the health and well-being of children will require collaboration among program developers and potential program adopters to identify effective ways to adapt the program to fit the ecological niche and needs of the community. Murry will discuss theoretical models to guide efforts to increase dissemination of including effective strategies and approaches to balance fidelity and adaptation.
