With regard to basic science, our knowledge of precursors, mechanisms and outcomes of partner violence has seen increasing attention in the last three decades. Despite this, there remains an enormous science-to-practice gap in the partner violence arena. This field is notoriously ineffective with intervention, and most community services are not deploying best practices. This brown bag will focus discussion on three questions, with the aim of helping prevention scientists brainstorm how to bridge this gap and have more policy impact. These questions are: 1) What does primary prevention look like for partner abuse, and what are the key challenges? a. What are some examples of effective community programs? b. Can we identify programs that target families or children, with potential to be adapted for a couples’ component/focus? 2. How can our field have more of a policy role? 3. What knowledge is lacking that will help us move the needle?
