The Affordable Care Act offers new and unique opportunities for implementing preventive services and thus conducting prevention and implementation research. This session will provide an overview for research funding opportunities during this period of health reform, including formal grant application processes, such as through Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), or through partnerships with broader funded groups that do not typically conduct research, such as Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) grant recipients and community partners. Further, we will include representatives from the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), a group of scientists and practitioners charged with evaluating the evidence for preventive services and determining which services should be considered sufficiently effective to warrant reimbursement under Medicaid and private insurance schedules.
