The Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act are now law of the land. Healthcare reform is in full swing. Prevention practice now plays a more prominent role under these new laws, and the time appears ripe for expanding prevention research. However, a clear path for growing prevention science in the health care arena is not so easily seen. The purpose of this SIG is to facilitate discussion among prevention scientists and federal officials about directions to pursue in learning more about how to integrate more evidence based prevention interventions into health care practice across the US.
