This Special Interest Group is intended to provide an opportunity to network and discuss promising prevention practices and programs for early childhood maltreatment.  It will focus on research related to risk and protective factors for early childhood maltreatment, with specific attention on new and innovative approaches for increasing protective factors in families.  Participants will discuss the challenges in conducting maltreatment prevention research and strategies for overcoming these challenges.  It is anticipated that this SIG will foster new collaborations among prevention scientists interested in the prevention of early childhood maltreatment and promotion of child wellbeing in young children.
