This special interest group will provide an opportunity for SPR attendees to network, learn about federal funding opportunities for prevention research with military personnel, veterans and their families and discuss issues relevant to moving the science forward for this population.  Topics to be discussed might include:  priority areas for research, unique issues about conducting research with military populations (e.g., gaining access, IRBs, human protections issues), similarities and differences in procedures and mechanisms when applying for funding through the Department of Defense (DoD) and National Institutes of Health (NIH), and which federal agencies are interested in funding research on military personnel, veterans and their families.  Representatives from NIH and DoD will be in attendance.
