SESSION INTRODUCTION: The goal of this symposium session is to present three innovative approaches to delivering the Online Triple P Positive Parenting Program that are designed to meet the different needs and preferences of parents. The presentations will provide examples of consumer-informed program tailoring and new program elements to facilitate parent engagement.

The first paper, “Consumer Informed Development and Evaluation of a Brief Online Parenting Program” will present survey results of parents’ use of and attitudes toward online parenting support and their preferences for online program features and content.  The presentation will discuss how this consumer perspective approach was used to inform the development of a low intensity version of Triple P Online. Preliminary results will be presented from a multi-informant RCT investigating the program efficacy with families with a young child with early onset conduct problems.

The second paper, “Feasibility of Delivering an Evidence-Based Parenting Program on a Social Media Platform: Lessons Learned” addresses issues of delivering the Triple P Parenting Program on a social media platform to a highly vulnerable population (inner-city parents in the child welfare system). Preliminary results will be presented from an RCT designed to test the feasibility of the program, including feedback from parents and agency staff about their acceptance and satisfaction with the program. The presentation will also discuss the lessons learned from the intervention delivery, including technical and logistical barriers.

The third paper, “The Triple P Online System and the Dissemination of Evidence-Based Parenting Supports through Pediatric Practices: The Parenting Help Online Study (TPOS)” describes and demonstrates a three-level online system of Triple P parenting supports that has personalized, flexible, interactive, video driven content with dosage adjusted to family needs. Participating paediatricians are trained to refer families to TPOS and support its use. Preliminary baseline data will be presented from the paediatrician sample on their current protocols for working with parents of children with disruptive behavior problems, their self-efficacy for handling these issues, and their attitudes towards the use of evidence-based and self-administered parenting interventions.

At the conclusion of the presentations the discussant will integrate the research presentations and identify common themes. An interactive discussion will follow, facilitated by the chair, between the presenters and symposium attendees.
